“Using Real-time Data to Assess Nonconforming Events, Identify Key Indicators of Quality, and Meet AABB and CAP Requirements in Blood Banks and Labs”

Randy German, MT(ASCP) SBB—Blood Bank & Laboratory Quality Manager, Hoag Hospital (Newport Beach, Calif.)

Many innovative laboratories are devoting more attention to the identification of nonconforming events. In this presentation, you’ll learn how the lab team at Hoag Hospital,  a $1B nonprofit healthcare delivery network in Newport Beach, Calif., developed their ongoing program that focuses on identifying nonconforming events, then taking appropriate corrective actions. You’ll learn about ways to identify relevant indicators of quality, and how the lab team implemented a program to address nonconforming events in a manner that would fulfill the requirements of AABB and CAP, both in the blood bank and in the laboratory.

A founding member of the OTIS Advisory Council, Randy has worked at Hoag for more than two decades, and collaborated with Nouvation on the development of OTIS®-Blood Bank and OTIS®-Laboratory.
