America’s Blood Centers
ABC is comprised of 74 independent community blood centers, operating more than 600 blood donor centers in 45 US states and Canada. Two of these—Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (Charlotte, N.C.) and Shepeard Community Blood Center (Augusta, Ga.)—use OTIS®-Blood Bank to drive process improvement. ABC members:
- distribute more than 10 million red blood cell units each year;
- contribute tens of millions of dollars in research and development;
- serve more than 3500 hospitals & healthcare facilities;
- supply nearly half the nation’s blood; and
- help more than 180 million people.
Biomedical Excellence for Safer Transfusion Collaborative
The BEST Collaborative is an international research organization that works collaboratively to explore ways to improve transfusion-related services through standardization of analytic techniques, development of new procedures, systematic review of evidence, and execution of clinical and laboratory studies.
Blood Centers of America
A cooperative representing community blood centers throughout the US, BCA helps members improve operations. BCA members provide more than 38 percent of the nation’s transfusion requirements and include OTIS customer Community Blood Center of the Carolinas.
The National Marrow Donor Program
NMDP and its donor recruitment division, Be the Match, are nonprofits dedicated to creating an opportunity for all patients to receive the bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplants they need, when they need it.
