Jay has spent 30-plus years in healthcare management and consulting, advising healthcare executives, clinicians and educators—as well as blood banking groups such as the American Red Cross and AABB members—on operations improvement, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, clinical service line development and more. Earlier in his career, he served as a senior executive at Inova Fairfax Hospital, MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Sibley Memorial Hospital, CEO of a 160-physician group practice and physician billing company, and a captain in the US Air Force’s Medical Service Corps.

A prolific speaker and author, Jay has served as faculty for the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the American Academy of Medical Administrators (AAMA) and numerous other healthcare organizations. He and George Mason colleague John Cantiello, PhD, recently co-authored Managing Integrated Health Systems: A Guide for Health Executives to help healthcare leaders more effectively respond to today’s ever-changing healthcare organization, with its many complexities and conflicting incentives.
