Patrick FentonPatrick Fenton—Former Director of Operations, Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center (Maryland Heights, Mo.)

After more than 20 years as a corporate and nonprofit operations and human resources executive, Patrick is most proud of his work at the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. Headquartered in Davenport, Iowa, the nonprofit handles more than 250,000 units of blood components each year and is the exclusive provider of blood products and services to 87 Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin hospitals. As operations director for their St. Louis region, Patrick created and implemented numerous initiatives to increase donor loyalty; blood collections jumped more than 300 percent. He worked with area hospitals to develop a resource-sharing initiative; the number of Metro St. Louis hospitals served tripled. A member of MVRBC’s quality assurance leadership committee, he developed and implemented a STAR (Stop-Think-Act-Review) Quality Assurance initiative, successfully completed numerous FDA and the Missouri Department of Pharmacy audits, and played a key leadership role during the Central Illinois Community Blood Center merger. Prior to MVRBC, Patrick held several corporate human resources leadership roles before joining Community Transit of St. Louis as executive director; the agency provides transportation for the elderly and disabled. Passionate about building customer loyalty, Fenton has served as a guest speaker and lecturer at many businesses, civic organizations, colleges and universities.
